The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary has announced that Logos Max, the full-featured tier of the Logos Bible Software platform, will be made available to all doctoral students at no additional cost.
The move extends a benefit already provided to master’s-level students, ensuring that every student at Southern Seminary has unrestricted access to one of the most comprehensive biblical and theological research platforms available. Logos Max provides users with the complete suite of Logos features, including advanced research tools, an extensive digital library, sermon preparation resources, and integrated notetaking and citation capabilities.
Brian Renshaw, Vice President for Enrollment Strategy and Global Campus, said the expansion removes an obstacle to doctoral-level scholarship.
“Logos is one of the most powerful research platforms available for biblical and theological study,” Renshaw said. “Giving our doctoral students unrestricted access to its full feature set removes a real barrier to deep, sustained scholarship.”
Renshaw noted that doctoral students at Southern Seminary carry responsibilities that extend well beyond the seminar room.
“All of our doctoral students are not only writing dissertations and projects, seminar papers, and other scholarly work, they are also teaching, leading, and serving in local churches and ministry contexts,” Renshaw said. “Logos Max equips them for both the rigorous academic work of the seminar room and the weekly demands of faithful ministry.”
For Renshaw, equipping doctoral students with a platform that serves both dissertation research and Sunday sermon preparation is not incidental—it is the mission of Southern Seminary to train leaders for the academy and the church.
“Our commitment remains focused on forming pastor-theologians and other ministry leaders who serve the academy and the church with equal care,” he said.
Southern Seminary’s partnership with Logos continues to expand as the institution invests in tools that follow students from the classroom into lifelong ministry and scholarship.
