Faithful to Christ, Equipped for the Classroom: Boyce College to Host Teachers Conference for Christian Educators

Travis Hearne — April 9, 2026

Every day, teachers face multiple challenges when it comes to handling distracted students, maintaining discipline in their classrooms, and navigating the latest educational trends. But for Christian educators the calling carries an added challenge: remaining faithful to Christ in increasingly complex classrooms. Boyce College plans to meet that challenge with its Encouraged and Equipped Teachers’ Conference on June 27, 2026.

Barry Gibson, Boyce College Professor of Teacher Education, said the conference is designed to be both formative and encouraging for educators navigating complex cultural and professional realities.

“The day will focus on practical issues facing Christian educators,” Gibson said. “We want participants to have opportunities for learning, discussion, encouragement, and reflection in a concentrated format.”

The one-day conference will run from morning to late afternoon and is designed to address the unique challenges facing teachers who seek to live out their Christian convictions in the field of education. The event will include plenary sessions with worship, multiple breakout sessions, and a shared lunch, creating space for both learning and meaningful conversation among participants.

Gibson said the conference reflects Boyce College’s broader mission to equip Christians to live faithfully in their vocations.

“Hosting a one-day conference allows Boyce College to come alongside educators in a focused and accessible way,” Gibson said. “It reinforces our mission to prepare Christians to live out their faith in their vocations.”

Education, Gibson noted, is one of the places where Christian conviction and real-world challenges frequently intersect.

“The event reflects Boyce’s commitment to integrating Christian conviction with real-world challenges, particularly in the field of education, where faithfulness often requires both courage and wisdom,” Gibson said.

The conference’s format makes it especially accessible for busy teachers while still offering meaningful engagement with the issues they face.

“Participants can benefit without committing to a long conference,” Gibson said. “At the same time, we want to address the most pressing issues educators are facing today.”

Participants can expect practical insights and thoughtful discussions that connect directly to the realities of modern classrooms.

“Teachers will find encouragement tailored to the realities they experience every day,” Gibson said. “Our hope is that they will leave with renewed perspective and a deeper sense of calling in their work.”

A central feature of the conference is its intentional integration of spiritual encouragement and professional development. Sessions will combine worship, teaching, and discussion, emphasizing the need for spiritual renewal alongside practical training.

“Educators need spiritual renewal just as much as professional development,” Gibson said. “The combination of plenary sessions and breakout options allows participants to engage together as a group and also in more focused settings where meaningful conversations can take place.”

The conference is designed to be affordable and accessible, with registration set at $50.

By gathering Christian leaders and educators for a single day, participants will return to their schools strengthened and equipped for their work.

“Our goal is to provide teachers with clarity, encouragement, and practical tools they can carry back into their classrooms and communities immediately,” Gibson said.
