Welcome IMB missionary! We are excited about your interest in The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary's Billy Graham School of Missions, Evangelism and Ministry, the SBC's oldest and largest graduate school for Great Commission Studies.
Southern Seminary and IMB will partner together to cover the tuition costs of three courses during your study:
- 33020 Leadership in Intercultural Contexts
- 33420 Cultural Acquisition (taken during the second semester of your first year on the field)
- 33830 Intercultural Church Planting

Degrees for Missionaries
MATS(IL) Degree
The Master of Arts in Theological Studies – Intercultural Leadership is a 48 hours Master of Arts degree restricted to those currently serving on the mission field or under appointment by the IMB, NAMB or another approved Great Commission groups. This is also the degree pursued by those serving as Macedonia Project missionaries.

Master of Divinity + Graduate Certificates* in:
*Graduate Certificates utilize free electives within the M.Div. and do not increase the length of the degree.
IMB Spouse Training
This training is comprised of four courses taken online at your own pace. The courses cover a total of 40 hours of lecture material in the areas of Systematic Theology, Old and New Testament, and Hermeneutics. If you are in the process to serve overseas, you can start this training any time for $25 a course. IMB Scholarships
If you have been approved by and are currently serving with the IMB, please complete the Mission Grant form and submit to financialaid@sbts.edu in order to receive tuition coverage for the 9 credit hours above. You will also receive 50% off tuition with no internet fee for the remaining courses.
