The new modular Th.M. in Theological Studies at Southern can be completed in a modular format over the course of 30 months, allowing students to participate in accessible and rigorous theological education beyond the M.Div. degree.
Modular Scheduling
Courses are offered in manageable, one-week segments (Monday – Friday) that allow you to complete the degree with less than thirty days on campus over the length of the degree. Students will make 5 visits to campus during the course of their program.
Students will be accepted as a cohort, taking all seminars together throughout their time in the program.
Interdisciplinary Curriculum
Students will complete a single, interdisciplinary curriculum utilizing specific, newly-created Th.M. seminars covering the classical theological disciplines of Old Testament studies, New Testament studies, Church History, and Systematic Theology. Additionally, students will write a thesis guided by a member of the SBTS faculty.
Thesis Supervision
Students will begin researching and writing their thesis from their first semester. During every visit to campus students will meet with their advisor in person for feedback on their progress. The thesis will be focused in a particular area and written at a level for publication.
