Southern Seminary moved to this property in the spring of 1926. It was already known as The Beeches, named for the grove of beech trees still standing on the front lawn.
The Olmsted Brothers firm drew the plan for the campus, arranging the buildings in open lawn and preserving the trees and architect James Gamble Rogers designed the buildings, pulling inspiration from his other projects at Yale and the University of Virginia. Over a century later, the meticulous planning has created a beautiful place to prepare for ministry at 2825 Lexington Road.
