Robert D. Jones

Associate Professor of Biblical Counseling (2016); Chair, Department of Biblical Counseling

Prior to coming to Southern, Jones served for 19 years as a lead pastor in West Virginia and then 12 years as a professor at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has written Uprooting Anger: Biblical Help for a Common Problem and Pursuing Peace: A Christian Guide to Handling Our Conflicts, along with nine mini-books (Angry at God?, Forgiveness, Bad Memories, Restoring Your Broken Marriage, Single Parenting, Freedom from Resentment, When Trouble Shows Up, Why Worry, and Prodigal Children), four chapters in multi-author counseling books, and over a dozen published journal articles and book reviews on counseling and pastoral ministry. Jones is a certified counselor, fellow, conciliation trainer, and speaker with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors; a certified Christian conciliator with the Institute for Christian Conciliation; a founding council member of the Biblical Counseling Coalition; and a member of the Evangelical Theological Society.
