Scott Connell serves as the Pastor of Worship and Communications at the historic First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, FL. Before moving to Jacksonville, he was an Associate Professor of Music and Worship Leadership at Southern Seminary where he also served as the Program Coordinator for Boyce College’s Worship Studies Program. He taught full time for SBTS for 8 years before moving to adjunct status. He has served as worship pastor, associate pastor, senior pastor, church planter, and Christian school principal in Tennessee, Texas, Maryland, Kentucky, Indiana, and now Florida. His highest ministry privilege is to lead God’s people in corporate worship in a manner that displays the supremacy of Christ, the centrality of the gospel, and priority of the people’s voice in singing on Sunday morning. He earned his M.M. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and his Ph.D. in Christian Worship from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife Mary have seven children.
