Student Status

Student status for the semesters and the Summer term is classified as either full-time or half-time.

  • Undergraduate Students
    • 12 hours in the semester qualifies as full-time.
    • 6 hours in the Summer term qualifies as full-time.
    • 3 hours in the Winter term qualifies as full-time.
  • Master’s and Diploma Students
    • 9 hours in the semester qualifies as full-time.
    • 5 hours in the Summer term qualifies as full-time.
    • Any hours in the Winter term qualifies as full-time.
  • Doctoral Students
    • Any hours in the semester or term qualifies as full-time.

Campus Location

Campus locations are classified as On-Campus, Extension Center or Internet.

On Campus students are restricted from registering for online courses.  If you are an on-campus student wanting to take an online course you please submit the Online Registration Exception Request form to the Global Campus Office.  If your request is approved, we will be directed to register you for the course.

Extension Center and Internet students may register for On-Campus courses during the Summer and Winter terms without changing their location status. During the semester, Extension Center and Internet students may take up to half their hours on-campus without having to change their location status, but need to contact Academic Records to be registered. Students who need to change their campus location should complete the Location Transfer Request.

In order for a request to be an internet student to be considered, a student’s physical location must be outside a 50-mile radius from the Louisville campus.  Exceptions to this policy should be directed to the Center for Student Success.

Continued Enrollment

Students must enroll each semester to maintain student status.  Students who do not enroll in the semester become non-current and must contact Academic Records to have their status updated to allow them to register.  Students may not  miss more than two consecutive semesters.

Students who do not take courses for more than two consecutive semesters must contact the Admissions Office to be re-admitted to their degree program.  See the Withdrawal Policies under the Online Catalog for more information. If you wish to withdraw, fill in the Withdrawal Form SBTS or Withdrawal Form Boyce College.

Course Drop and Withdrawal

Students may drop a course through thru the first day of class.  For internet and modular courses, the drop period is extended through the Friday of the first week of class (e-mail Academic Records to be dropped.)  After the drop period ends, students may withdraw from a course using the Course Withdrawal Form until October 31 for Fall courses; March 31 for Spring courses; up to the midpoint of the class during terms.

Tuition Refunds

Students who drop courses during the online drop period will be refunded 100% of their tuition. There is no refund for courses from which a student withdraws after the online drop period ends (third Monday of the semester or end of first day of term classes.)
