The employee in this position will have the following essential job functions:
- Assists the establishment of the campus tradition and culture of loving, serving, and encouraging one another while students are training for ministry
- Oversees all seminary student organizations, which includes helping to plan and schedule organizational events, approving new organizations, and working with organizational leaders
- Manages Student Life social media, website content, and the monthly email to promote student life initiatives
- Assists the Dean of Students with student engagement, character/conduct issues, and the seminary’s student care program
- Promotes, organizes, and conducts interviews for the Ministry Leaders’ Internship under the leadership of the Dean of Students
- Plans, organizes, and executes the fall and spring New Student Orientations, the 1937 Project, the annual Student Life Conference, along with other student life events and activities
- Promotes, organizes, and oversees the application process for the Men of the Word discipleship program under the leadership of the Dean of Students
- Coordinates student leadership efforts on campus that will increase the affinity for Southern Seminary (help to establish the “Southern Way”)
- Assists with research into student needs to help the Dean of Students develop strategies and programs for student life with emphasis upon retention
- Identifies at risk students and provides additional care and attention as needed
- Partners with the Women’s Ministry Coordinator to accomplish overall student life goals
- Encourages student participation in chapel services, lectureships, conferences, and special events on campus
