The employee in this position will have the following essential job functions:
- Prepare and teach an aquatics fitness class with a standard of excellence.
- Provide proper warmup and cool down periods for participants in every class
- Instruct participants in proper performance of the exercises to minimize health risks and maximize performance
- Ensure safety of the participants at all times
- Select and play music that is God-honoring to motivate participants
- Promote group fitness classes regularly
- Communicate regularly with your participants via email and/or Facebook group fitness class page
- Share a spiritual component in every class through scripture reading and prayer
- Explain and enforce Health and Rec Center policies and procedures as necessary
- Arrive fifteen minutes before the schedule class start time to set-up and be ready to welcome participants five minutes before class
- Develop a curriculum for fitness class
- Maintain a planning log and periodically submit it to the Student Associate of Group Fitness
- Fill out attendance sheet and record total participant number each class
- Clean and organize equipment and fitness area
- Maintain equipment in the pool area
- Attend program meetings and in-services as scheduled
- Substitute for other group fitness instructors as needed
- Secure a substitute teacher in the event of an absence and follow cancellation policies in the event of an emergency
- Assist with all HRC event such as but not limited to locker clean outs, health fairs, Fall Festival, etc.
Performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
