• How do I submit a maintenance request?
    • An online Maintenance Request Form can be submitted by clicking here.
    • Once this form is submitted, we will put in a work order with our Facilities Team. We typically allow Facilities about two weeks to fix most maintenance requests. Emergency requests, such as the water being shut off, floods, major leaks, or heat/AC not working are handled promptly.
    • For urgent maintenance needs that arise after regular office hours (Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM), we have a Student Housing representative on call 24/7. Simply dial 502-897-4203 and follow the prompts to be connected to the on-call representative. We commonly define an “urgent maintenance need” as anything that affects the livability of your home (i.e. uncontrollable water leak, power outage, or AC/heating issue in months with more extreme temperatures).
    • For maintenance requests pertaining to on-campus laundry machines, please contact our service provider (CSC ServiceWorks) by one of the methods outlined on this brochure. CSC ServiceWorks has a helpful app you can download on your smartphone to submit maintenance requests for on-campus laundry machines. Speaking of laundry, CSC ServiceWorks has also created a site that will allow you to check on the status of laundry machines before you even enter the laundry room. No more wasted trips to the laundry room only to find out that all of the machines are occupied. Click here for instructions on how to utilize LaundryView.

Weatherization Questions

  • What should I set my thermostat to when I leave for an extended period of time?
    • When you will be out of the apartment for at least one consecutive week (i.e. going home over Christmas or the summer), do not set your thermostat to “Off.” Place it on “Auto” with the following temperature settings.
      • Spring/Summer: 75-80 degrees
      • Fall/Winter: 60-65 degrees
  • Are there any measures I should take during extremely cold weather (when it is consistently below freezing)?
    • Keep cabinet doors open to allow warm air to flow to the pipes under your sink.
    • Allow faucets to drip to prevent pipes from freezing; a continuous flow of water is unnecessary .
    • If you use a space heater in your apartment, keep anything flammable at least three feet away from the space heater (this includes papers, clothing, and rugs). Do not leave space heaters unattended.
    • Ease your thermostat up gradually (2-3 degrees per hour) for maximum efficiency. For example, if your apartment is set at 65 degrees and you want to increase the heat, do not immediately turn up your heat to 75 degrees. Rather, increase it by 2-3 degrees each hour until it reaches your desired setting.
    • Some residents choose to invest in either temporary window-insulation kits or insulated curtains to increase heating efficiency.
    • Some residents choose to invest in draft stoppers for their doors. Click here to browse Amazon’s Best Selling Draft Stoppers. If you notice more severe cracks or gaps in your doors or windows, submit a maintenance request immediately and we will respond to it as quickly as possible.
    • It’s always wise to have an emergency kit in the event of a campus-wide power outage. You’ll want to make sure you have the following basic items:
      • Flashlight with Extra Batteries
      • First Aid Items (Band-aids, Bandages, Aspirin, Neosporin, etc.)
      • Bottled Water
      • Candles & Matches
      • Blankets
      • Car Charger for Cell Phones
      • Manual Can Opener
