Urban Ministry
The Doctor of Ministry and the Doctor of Educational Ministry in Urban Ministry is designed to better equip local church and ministry leaders to serve in urban contexts.
Cities need strong churches and urban churches need strong leaders. The concentration in Urban Ministry aims to equip individuals who feel called to the unique work of revitalizing and planting new churches in an urban context. Coursework will consider urban ministry from a variety of perspectives so as to strengthen leaders serving in cities around the world.
This program of study is offered as a 32 Hour D.Min. degree.
Course curriculum includes:
- Project Methodology (1 hour)
- Intro to Doctoral Research & Writing (1 hour)
- Four Foundational Seminars (16 hours)
- 80414: Ministry Transitions for the Black Church (or 80344)
- 80344: Applied Apologetics in Ministry Context (or 80414)
- 80532: Biblical and Theological Issues in Church Revitalization
- 80411: Historical Perspectives on the Black Church and Urban Ministry
- 80809: Leadership in the Local Church
- Contextualized Writing Seminars (8 hours)
- Ministry Research Project or Thesis (6 hours)
This program of study is also offered as a 46 Hour D.Ed.Min. degree.
