Doxology
The vision and purpose of the Doxology vocal ensemble is to provide musically excellent, gospel-centered worship leadership for the seminary community, our constituent churches and related entities, and to serve as ambassadors of the Billy Graham School and Southern Seminary throughout the region and nation.
Norton Hall Band
Norton Hall Band exists to encourage and promote Christ-centered, gospel-focused worship through biblically-guided worship, original compositions, artistic excellence and service to the seminary community, our constituent churches. Norton Hall Band is also available to lead worship at conferences, student unions, and church events.
Southern Chorale
Southern Chorale is a choral ensemble that provides worship leadership primarily for SBTS chapel services. The chorale prepares a wide variety of chorale literature – from traditional spirituals and sacred chorale works to modern worship songs. All singers (students, faculty, staff and friends of the seminary) are welcome to take part in the Southern Chorale.
Chapel Orchestra
The Chapel Orchestra provides instrumental preludes and worship accompaniment for the Tuesday morning chapels at Southern. From more traditional hymn renditions to the newest Praise Chart arrangements, the orchestra plays a wide variety of musical styles and genres. The ensemble utilizes instruments from both the symphonic band and string orchestra in fulfilling its purpose to provide instrumental accompaniment in the enhancement of corporate worship.
Cannons Lane Collective
The Seminary Worship Bands are auditioned groups that serve as the rhythm section for the seminary chapel each Tuesday and Thursday morning. These bands are the “backbones” of each chapel service as they provide the musical foundation through the instrumentation of the modern rhythm section. Because bands are utilized for both the Tuesday and Thursday chapel services , positions are open to qualified players who have expertise on drum kit, guitar, electric guitar, piano, keys and bass guitar.
Institute for Biblical Worship
There has perhaps never been a more important time for the church to articulate the clear message of the gospel through the corporate worship gathering. The Institute for Biblical Worship, in partnership with the Department of Biblical Worship in the Billy Graham School of Missions, Evangelism and Ministry at Southern Seminary is dedicated to training the next generation of worship pastors and fostering a community of scholars and worship practitioners for the glory of God. Dr. Matthew Westerholm currently serves as the Director for the Institute for Biblical Worship.
Seminary School of the Arts
The Seminary School of the Arts offers music education to the Louisville community through private lessons, ensembles, and special focused classes. Hosted on the beautiful campus of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in the Billy Graham School, the Seminary School of the Arts is proud to offer a unique perspective on music education.
