Drs. Tom Schreiner and Barry Joslin as taught The Epistle to the Hebrews on August 6-7, 2015 for one of our Alumni Academy courses. This class flowed from their recent commentaries on the letter to the Hebrews.
The class studied the letter to the Hebrews and applied the letter to today’s world. The epistle to the Hebrews may strike us as abstract theology, but the teachers show that the message of Christ’s superiority and excellency applies to today’s world, as the author exhorts his readers not to fall away. We gain an understanding from Hebrews of redemptive history, the role of typology, the use of the OT in the NT, the significance of the warning passages, the high priesthood of Christ, the meaning of the new covenant, the importance of faith, and a clearer picture of Christ’s deity and humanity.
