Mark Dever

Duke K. McCall Professor of Pastoral Leadership (2019)

As the Duke K. McCall Professor of Pastoral Leadership, Dever brings to Southern Seminary many years of pastoral leadership and ministry. He has been the senior pastor of the Capitol Hill Baptist Church (Washington, DC) since 1994, where he continues to serve. He is the president of 9Marks Ministries and the author of numerous books, including Nine Marks of a Healthy Church, Discipling: How to Help Others Follow Jesus, Message of the Old Testament, Message of the New Testament, and The Church: The Gospel Made Visible, among many others. He is a graduate of Duke University, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Cambridge University. He is married to Connie and they have two adult children, both married, and one grandchild.
