the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary

QEP

Southern Seminary wants to help master’s level students grow as theological writers, so that the seminary produces students and graduates able and prepared to communicate clearly and compellingly the message of Jesus Christ.

The Writing Center

The Writing Center at Southern Seminary was created to help students improve their skills in every stage of the writing process so they can make a powerful impact for the kingdom. The goal of the Writing Center is to help students increase their skill and confidence in generating ideas, writing drafts, and editing errors.

Lib Guides

Lib Guides provides information about and access to the Southern Seminary Manual of Style and templates for research papers and dissertations.

Southern Seminary Manual of Style

Students writing research papers, book reviews, theses, dissertations, or D.Min. projects will find The Southern Seminary Manual of Style helpful in addressing many of their formatting questions.

Sample Theology Papers

Students from prior semesters have graciously allowed the following papers to be posted as examples. Each paper shows strengths and weaknesses and marginal annotations provided by the Writing Center staff will help students to recognize these features. Annotations marked in green provide examples of strong writing, those in yellow highlight writing that is acceptable but open to improvement, and those sections marked in red indicate writing errors to avoid.
