Intensive Courses

Intensives are MATSIL classes that generally involve one to two weeks in the classroom. These classes, together with online classes, allow missionaries to obtain many of the required hours for their degree without leaving the field for a long period of time.

Some intensives are held at the International Center for Excellence in Leadership (often concurrently with Field Personnel Orientation), while others take place at various locations throughout the world. Survey of Systematic Theology, Southern Baptist Heritage, Survey of the Old Testament, and Survey of the New Testament are offered as field intensives on a rotating basis.

Prior to taking any intensives, you need to be admitted to The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. You will register and pay for intensives using e-Campus, just like any other class. Due to the rigors of missionary life, there may be times when you are unable to register using e-Campus. If you find yourself in such a circumstance, you may contact our Registrar, who will be able to register you. Please do not abuse this privilege!

Many intensives will require that you do some reading and other assignments prior to the beginning of the class. Thus, you will need to obtain the books required for your class as soon as possible. To find the course requirements, download and read the syllabus from e-Campus as soon as it is posted. Some syllabi are also available in Projected Intensives.
