SBTS Scholarships
Students may receive only one SBTS scholarship per academic year. Those who apply for but do not receive the Rice-Judson and Woman’s Auxiliary Scholarships will be considered for the General Scholarship.
Below is a brief description of SBTS institutional scholarships. Click on each scholarship name to learn more about eligibility requirements and deadlines.
General Scholarship
Students enrolled in a masters or undergraduate degree program are eligible to apply for the need-based General Scholarship. Scholarships are awarded on an annual basis and are divided equally between fall and spring semesters. Awards range from $600-$1,600 per year.
Rice-Judson Scholarship
The Rice-Judson Scholarship honors two Baptist missionaries: Luther Rice and Adoniram Judson. It is the most prestigious and competitive scholarship offered at SBTS and application is available only for entering first semester students. The scholarship is awarded for the first two semesters of studies in the amount of $1,250 per semester.
Woman’s Auxiliary Scholarship
The Woman’s Auxiliary Scholarship is awarded to eligible women who are committed to a christian vocation. All female continuing master-level students may apply for this $1500 annual scholarship. Applicants must complete the standard financial aid application by April 15 and will then be interviewed by the Southern Seminary Woman’s Auxiliary group.
F-1 International Student Scholarship
All masters-level international students with an F-1 visa status are eligible for a scholarship of $1,600 ($800 per semester). Students will work with the Manager for International and Disability Services to determine eligibility. Students must complete the Financial Aid PROFILE by the appropriate deadline.
Southern Grant
Master-level students enrolled in 6+ on-campus credit hours for the summer or winter term are eligible to receive a $150 Southern Grant. No application necessary.
Missions Grants
Missions Grants are available for currently serving full-time or emeritus IMB and NAMB missionaries, returning Journeymen, and children of full-time or emeritus IMB and NAMB missionaries. Additionally, Missions Grants are available for students studying in the MATSIL, 2+ and Reverse 2+2 programs at SBTS.
