The purpose of the Writing Center is to help students improve their skills in every stage of the writing process so they can make a powerful impact for the kingdom. Our goal is to help students increase their skill and confidence in generating ideas, writing drafts, and editing errors.
While we help students identify patterns of errors in their writing, we are not an editing service. We strive to equip students to improve their own skills as writers, and our services are meant to support, not substitute for, each student’s own process of refining and editing writing.
Services
We provide free appointments for students. We are available on campus or by email to help with any stage of the writing process from brainstorming to editing.
On Campus hours:
Carver 113: Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Library 225: Tuesday through Thursday from 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm
Email us at writingcenter@sbts.edu to make an appointment. Walk-ins are also welcome. If you don’t have an appointment, we’re happy to help on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Online hours:
Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Students may send in papers and questions at any time to writingcenter@sbts.edu, and we will respond during the next time our tutors are working (usually Monday-Thursday).
To help us serve you better:
Please try to make an appointment at least a few days in advance of the date your paper is due so that you will have time to make changes before you turn in the final product.
When you come for an appointment or send us a paper, include as many details as you can about your assignment and about any specific areas in which you would like our help.
