Assistance for Students with Disabilities

Southern Seminary is committed to making both campus facilities and degree programs accessible to students with disabilities. All campus common areas are accessible to those with mobility challenges. Learning accommodations include oral, extended time, out-of-classroom testing, as well as extended time for reading and writing assignments.  In the case of reading accommodations, where e-books are not readily accessible, we assist qualifying students with obtaining e-files.

The Center for Student Success welcomes anyone needing learning accommodations to contact the Manager for Disability Services, Mike Withers ( or 502- 897-4208).  Our office also helps with the following:

  • Discussing and making arrangements to obtain medical or psychological documentation of the disability. Summary documentation is acceptable if it includes recommendations for learning accommodations. Most often your previous school can fax these items directly to our office (fax: 502-626-5525). All documents received will be kept confidential.
  • Informing course professors of needed learning accommodations.  At the start of each semester, the Manager for Disability Services will email learning accommodation notices to course professors. The office will function as a logistical liaison to ensure that the accommodations are implemented for the student.  Most out-of-classroom testing will be arranged by our office with the James P. Boyce Centennial Library.

During the semester, please notify the Manager for Disability Services of significant developments affecting your learning accommodations. Students do not need to alert professors themselves.
