Campus Clinic

Seminarians have access to a limited health maintenance program at the Hagan Clinic, staffed by a charge nurse and physician. Upon presentation of valid identification, current students and their immediate family may use the clinic.

Edgar’s

Edgar’s, Southern Seminary’s men’s emporium, is located in the Honeycutt Campus Center, across from Founders’ Café. Edgar’s, namesake of Southern Seminary founder E.Y. Mullins, carries suits and blazers, silk ties, dress shirts, and accessories. Edgar’s hours are Monday through Friday 11 to 5:30 and Saturday 12 to 3.

Fritz’s

Fritz’s is now open inside of Edgar’s Men’s Emporium located in the Honeycutt Campus Center. Haircuts are open for appointment or walk-in for men and boys. Hours for Fritz’s are Monday and Wednesday 11am-6pm, and Friday 11am-3pm.

“The Shield” Card

The Shield is a student multi-functional ID card that remains valid during the term of registration. Each student must carry the Shield card while on campus, and present it when requesting services from any office. Shield Cards may be obtained in 5th & Broadway during operating hours.

ID photographs comply with the standard for decorum and dress. To obtain a Shield Card, male students must wear a collared shirt–no caps, t-shirts or facial jewelry.

Spouses and dependents may obtain cards after entering the necessary data into the online form, www.sbts.edu. For replacement cards or inquiries, contact The Shield office, (502) 897-4311.

Health and Recreation Center

The Recreation Center has gymnasiums, racquetball courts, swimming pool, tot pool, outside fountain pool, whirlpool, sauna, steam room, fitness room, climbing wall and game rooms. Weekday hours are 6:30 am until 10 pm, and 9-9 for Saturdays and certain holidays. Staff members provide equipment, instruction and assistance about personal fitness. Programs take priority over free play activity, and are first offered to students. Classes and official on-campus organizations may reserve portions of the Center.

Christianity in Africa class

A special opportunity is available to students during the upcoming winter term. Along with George Martin, Randy Arnett (over 30 years ministry experience in West Africa) and Charles Juma (from East Africa) will be offering the course 33477, “Topics in Missions: Christianity in Africa.” The seminar format class will be offered from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Dec. 14-18. On Friday, Dec. 4, the Church Planting Center will be hosting its annual church planting family banquet from 6-8 p.m. in the President’s Reception Room. You must RSVP by Nov. 24 to attend. The SBTS Student Council will serve coffee and doughnuts to all students from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 1. Come by the lobby of 5th and Broadway early to pick up your free Blue Book for you final exam. The event is sponsored by the Seminary Student Council.

In all likelihood, most people would never even imagine a cartoon version of Genesis. Nevertheless, the cartoon version has arrived, and it is attracting no small amount of attention. The Book of Genesis Illustrated is by famed cartoonist R. Crumb. Famous among cartoonists for his work as far back as the 1960s, Crumb has always combined cartoons and a social/political agenda.
