Academic Advising
All degree programs and degree concentration requirements may be located on the Billy Graham School website. Students may also consult the “Frequently Asked Questions” page for answers to many common questions. For further information, students may contact academicadvising@sbts.edu.
Students may seek advisement for the following:
- Advisement when coming near to end of program
- Direction for changing MDiv tracks or transferring programs of study
- Directions in taking advanced placement exams
- Requests for course substitutions
New Students
Students begin their advisement formally when they come for their first orientation advisement session, just prior to commencing their studies at the beginning of their first semester. At this very important initial orientation advisement session, they meet the Dean, and they are informed of the procedure they may follow for academic advising at any point in their programs of study.
Degree Checklist
All MDiv students should check the current catalog for an outline of the precise program and concentration requirements that they are seeking to complete.
Graduation Check
Prior to their final year of study, all students must contact academicadvising@sbts.edu to complete a “graduation check.” The advisor will determine what courses the student still needs to graduate. An official graduation audit is completed by the Office of Academic Records prior to the close of registration in the student’s final semester.
During the last semester of course study, all students must then contact the Office of Academic Records and fill out a “graduation application” to declare their intended date of graduation. The deadline for applications is September 15 for fall graduation and February 15 for spring graduation.
