Academic Advisement

All Billy Graham School masters level students have easy access to academic advising throughout the entirety of their programs of study. Students should consult the “Frequently Asked Questions” page for answers to many common questions.

Students may seek advisement for the following:

  • Help selecting or planning initial program of study or degree concentration
  • Advisement of recommended sequence of study
  • Advisement when coming near to end of program
  • Direction for changing MDiv tracks or transferring programs of study
  • Directions in taking advanced placement exams
  • Requests for course substitutions

Advisor. The Academic Advisor for the Graham School is Anna Gibson. Students may feel free to call, email, or make appointments with her for assistance with any questions they may have about their programs of study.

Academic advisement is available for students beginning with questions that they may have even before they’ve been admitted, as well as on through their studies up until their graduation.

New Students. Students begin their advisement formally when they come for their first orientation advisement session, just prior to commencing their studies at the beginning of their first semester. At this very important initial orientation advisement session, they meet the Dean and the academic advisor, and they are informed of the procedure they may follow for academic advising at any point in their programs of study. New and incoming students should also read the New Student Advising Information (PDF).

Degree Checklist. All MDiv students should secure a “Student Checklist” outlining the precise program and concentration requirements that they are seeking to complete. These are available online or by contacting Mrs. Gibson.

Graduation Check. Prior to their final year of study, all students must contact Anna Gibson to complete a “graduation check.” Mrs. Gibson will determine what courses the student still needs to graduate. An official graduation audit is completed by the Office of Academic Records prior to the close of registration in the student’s final semester.

During the last semester of course study, all students must then contact the Office of Academic Records and fill out a “graduation application” to declare their intended date of graduation. The deadline for applications is September 15 for fall graduation and February 15 for spring graduation.
