The following steps are required to connect to the network. Students are responsible for the installation of the network card. Students are responsible for providing patch cable from PC to wall jack. Network cards and patch cables can be purchased at the computer lab or at local computer and electronics stores. Step 1: Turn computer off and install Ethernet Network card in PC and connect patch cable from network card to wall jack. Wall jacks are marked with room numbers. You must use a RJ45 patch cable; do not use a telephone cable. Step 2: Turn on computer and follow the directions to install the drivers for your network card. Step 3: Follow directions for your operating system: Step 4: Students are responsible for the security of their computers. In order to minimize the risk of damage to your computer, the following is recommended.
The computer lab is available to answer questions regarding network setup. Please do not bring your computer to the lab. The computer lab can be reached at 897-4501 during lab hours.
